Indie or Mainstream? What Type of Film Should Ms Nora Aunor Do Next?

INDEPENDENT FILM or MAINSTREAM FILM for Ms Nora Aunor?

this is a "chicken or egg" situation- ano/sino ba ang mauuna? ang major movie from a major film outfit (regal/viva/gma/star) + NETWORK support o isang independent film-na DAPAT ay PROMOTED at RELEASED ng again, major film outfit + NETWORK support?

as an Arts Management/Pop Media Strategist who has been studying the film and television market for several years now, i'm quite confident to say na truth be told- NAGHIHINTAY ang mga major film productions ng PROOF na KIKITA ang pelikula- kahit sino pa ang bida (nora, vilma, sharon, piolo, juday, etc...) but most specifically in the case of Ms Nora Aunor, NAGHIHINTAY talaga sila ng PROOF na KIKITA, hindi lang ang kanyang COMEBACK FILM kundi maging ang kanyang SUCCEEDING FILMS.

one cannot and should not fault the film producers because a decent mainstream film costs at least 20Mphp- malaking pera however one sees it.

so SAAN makakakuha ng PROOF ang mga MAJOR FILM OUTFITS na kikita ang MGA movies- if ever?

dito PWEDENG PUMASOK ANG LOGIC in producing/starring in INDEPENDENT FILMS. independent films are produced at, let's say, 1/4 the COST of a mainstream film. so BUSINESS-WISE, mas madaling MA-RECOVER ang investment.

but MORE IMPORTANTLY, independent films- KUNG NAGAWA NANG MAHUSAY not only in terms of ART but also kung nagawang 'INDEPENDENT BUT COMMERCIALLY VIABLE'- sobrang laking tulong nito sa LAHAT ng involved- from producers to stars.

May mga INDEPENDENTLY-PRODUCED FILMS na hindi lang pang-award kundi COMMERCIALLY SUCCESSFUL pa, like 'Here Comes the Bride', 'Kimi Dora' 'Zombadings', 'Ang Babae sa Septic Tank'-

Comparatively, KOKONTI LANG ang commercially successful independent films BUT it CAN HAPPEN.

Given the RIGHT PROJECT.
Given the RIGHT PROMOTIONS.
Kahit independent film- PWEDENG MAG-100MPhp sa box-office, making it an UNQUESTIONABLE COMMERCIAL HIT.

At kung si Ms Nora Aunor ang bida sa independent film- almost no question na sa high quality of acting, at the very least. Mas madali pang i-market at ILABAN sa mga INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVALS ang isang independent film kesa sa isang all-out commercial mainstream movie. I'm also speaking, NOT as a fan of Ms Nora Aunor but from my experience as Promo Head of Cinemanila International Film Festival some years ago.

So back to the question- dapat ba indie o mainstream ang gawin ni ate Guy?

I dont think THAT is the correct question to ask.
The FIRST question to ask is- WHAT is the project all about?
Maganda ba? Unique ba? Kikita ba?

If I were to strategize for ate Guy, the goal as per her comeback should be: Kahit independent o mainstream pa ang pelikula, ang importante, the film not only showcases her artistry to the world but also brings the PAYING PUBLIC- not just the fans- sa loob ng mga sinehan to watch her.

Nagawa yan nina Ms Eugene Domingo, Angelica Panganiban, Mart Escudero.
Mas lalong magagawa yan, at DAPAT MAGAWAG YAN ng "Superstar Team" because Ms Nora Aunor deserves nothing less.
