While generally regarded by traditional film industry movers, the entertainment press and even the Selection Committee of the Metro Manila Film Festival itself as a film project that "lacks commercial viability", with almost all so-called "fearless forecasts" predicting this NORA AUNOR-starrer to end up at the cellar of the box-office ranking among the eight festival entries, our most recent Star Value Analysis, on the hand, sees a different, or should we say, radically opposite, trend shattering scenario as far as "Thy Womb's" box-office potential is concerned.

After reviewing the film and upon gathering and analyzing all pop media elements relevant to it, our patented Star Value Rating System has found "THY WOMB" to have a Star Value (Film) of a SEASONED STAR.

As a film with a Star Value of a Seasoned Star, "Thy Womb" is poised to surprise many with a so-much-better-than-expected box-office gross at the end of the festival. Just how surprising will this box-office performance be? Allow us to be more daring by being more specific in our prediction-cum-analysis.

1. "Thy Womb" will NOT be the festival box-office cellar-dweller. On the contrary...
2. "Thy Womb" will occupy the #4 slot in the MMFF box-office ranking, just behind "Sisterakas", "Enteng" and "One More Try."
3. If it does stay at the #4 slot, "Thy Womb" would most likely have grossed in the vicinity of Php 75-85M.

Yet the good news for "Thy Womb" does not end there. Should the momentum for "Thy Womb" continue, and particularly if it ends up sweeping the major awards, we see its Star Value improving a notch higher - from a Seasoned Star (film) to a TOP STAR (film).

A film in the Top Star value category is expected to gross at least Php 100M at the box-office.

MANILA, Philippines - Manila's pioneer theater groups, the Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA) and Repertory Philippines are producing the much awaited-awaited encore performances of the hit musical comedy "Caredivas" this coming April 27-29 at Greenbelt, Onstage.

Care-givers by day...

"Caredivas" is a disarmingly funny and candid musical drama about five transgender Overseas Filipino Workers in Israel who work as care givers in the morning and transform into glamorous drag queen performers come night fall. While desperate to make ends meet in another country, they also struggle to search for freedom and acceptance in a foreign land.

The play's theatrical and wickedly funny text, written by award-winning playwright, Liza Magtoto cradles lovely, gentle moments that mull over the lives of the main characters: the kind and loving Chelsea, the often-sarcastic group leader Shai, the ditsy Thalia, the bubbly Kayla and the ill-tempered Jonee.

In a land far from home...

Vincent de Jesus' musical score leaves audiences humming tunes as it weaves through the narrative. Music and lyrics serve as the other "text" that embodies the romantic-whimsy of this play.

Where they are welcome to provide care for others...

Directed by Maribel Legarda, the creative team behind the show also includes costume designer John Abul, lighting designer Jon Jon Villareal, visual artist and set designer Leo Abaya and contemporary dancer and choreographer Carlon Matobato.

So they may provide for the others they care for but must leave behind.

"Caredivas" includes a powerhouse cast of theater actors: PETA artists Melvin Lee, Vincent De Jesus, Phil Noble, Buddy Caramat, Dudz Teraña, Jason Barcial and Eric dela Cruz. Featured guest artists are: Paul Holme, Ricci Chan, Jerald Napoles, Myke Salomon, Angeli Bayani together with Miguel Hidalgo and Dominic Miclat-Janssen.

Competition just got tighter on "American Idol" with last week's two 'predictable winners', PHILIP PHILLIPS and COLTON DIXON losing several star value points after their performances this week (that featured the songs of the late Whitney Houston and Stevie Wonder) while others in the 'safe zone' gained significant star value points, narrowing the leads of Phillips and Dixon and improving their chances in winning the 'Idol' crown. HEEJUN HAN and JESSICA SANCHEZ are this week's biggest star value gainers.

After viewing and assessing this week's performances, our patented Star Value Rating System reveals the following results:

American Idol Season 11- Results Night Top 13

During the Top 13 Results Night of "American Idol", Jennifer Lopez has obviously "given her heart" (as a judge) to the very loveable Jeremy Rosado, Heejun Han succeeded in delighting all three judges enough to put himself in the next round, and while Philip Phillips is looking more and more like American Idol season 11's "predictable winner", wildcard contestant Jermaine Jones' strong showing, landing in the Top 10 (besting "Bieber-look-alike" and original Top 25 pick, Eben Franckewitz) validates anew the idea that sometimes, the American public (or at least  considerable sector of it) do not agree with the choices of the show's highly professional judges (the trio didn't choose Jeremy in the Top 25 but the producers pushed "the gentle giant" through as a wild card contestant).

It is at this stage of the competition, when the battle starts to really get tough and the glitz and the drama, in and out of the AI stage, is expected to escalate further and cause more "confusion" as to how the contestants are really developing as future stars, that we now also begin to closely monitor the Top 13 hopefuls and voluntarily reveal, the minimum results of our patented Star Value Rating System.

Every contestant will receive a star value score,  the result of our calculations using the system, and such score will show who among them are gaining, maintaining or losing star value.

The highest star value score is 4 pts. The contestant who gets the nearest score to 4 pts. is, in our star value analysis, the true "star" among all the contestants and should be crowned as the next American Idol (that is if AI is truly looking for the "next big star" and not just a seasonal television sensation).

That said, below is the current star value rating of the thirteen American Idol contestants after the Top 13 results show was aired.

Again, the results of our rating system shows that IF the Top 13 were to compete against each other today (March 2, 2012), Heejun, Hollie and Deandre  would most likely get the lowest # of votes and/or be voted out.

BUT because American Idol is a live competition, anything can still happen- including them three giving the American audience the most affecting and effective performances of their live and thus, greatly improve their star value scores and rankings.

Star Value Analysis: Next week, Heejun, Hollie and Deandre, but most especially Heejun, MUST give nothing less than their very best to remain in the competition.

Star Value Analysis (Box-Office) 2012-04: The Vow Lives Up to Promise as SVA Predicted, Against Hollywood Experts' Opinion (Again!)

UPDATE:As of Feb. 28, 2012, "The Vow" has finally crossed the $100M mark @ the US domestic box-office, officially earning for itself the all-important tag of being a "certified blockbuster movie."

And yet again, our Star Value Analysis is proven accurate when it predicted weeks ago (result published online via Tweeter) that "The Vow" will remain ahead of its release-date competitor, "Safe House", (see article below) contrary to what some earlier unconvinced Hollywood experts saw in their own "predictions" "Safe House" will top "The Vow" by weekend's end- Hollywood Reporter.

The action flick headlined by Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds remains to be under the  $100M mark @ the US domestic box-office for the same date.

Even when the romantic movie "The Vow", starring Rachel McAdams and Channing Tatum and directed by Michael Sucsy, opened to a quite impressive $15M+ on its first day (Feb. 10, 2012) @ the US box-office

Hollywood experts still insisted that by the weekend's end, another movie, the action thriller "Safe House", powered by Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds, would end up on top of the box-office race, albeit with a narrow lead "Safe House" will top "The Vow" by weekend's end- Hollywood Reporter.

But when we checked the forecast against our Star Value Rating System, it showed us the elements that strongly suggest the box-office superiority of "The Vow" over its competitor for that weekend. Thus, we immediately went to Twitter and posted the following:

Several days later, the verdict is out. Were the Hollywood experts correct in favoring "Safe House" over "The Vow" as the box-office champ or did our forecast, based on our patented Star Value Rating System, proved to be more reliable in reading the public's pulse and preference?

Star Value Analysis (Teaser / Basic) : Fans get their MOST INTIMATE encounter with David Archuleta but store fails to maximize sales potential.

Incognito, we joined the crowd that witnessed the meet & greet event of David Archuleta for Bench (SM Megamall). On the positive side, it was decidedly more intimate than the other public appearances of David that definitely delighted his Filipino fans who stood there for about two (2) hours to get a glimpse of the young singer. Kudos should go to the security group and the organizers for successfully managing the crowd. 

On the negative side, the marketing group appears to have not fully maximized the scheduled appearance of the star as access tickets are still being sold minutes before his arrival. Given the reported hush-hush schedule of David Archuleta, it would have helped the store to produce a much bigger poster than what they had, announcing the star's arrival and the purchasing requirement for fans to secure prior to the event.

Days earlier, the OPM album pre-launch of the same star appears to have done a better marketing job.
