Glee Season 2 Finale Song of Charice? - As Long As You're There (Lyric Video)

'In the Name of Love' reveals the 'goddess' in Angel Locsin

'Hindi tao' si Angel Locsin sa pelikulang 'In the Name of Love.' In this movie, Angel is a 'goddess!' Imagine watching her glossiest and sexiest magazine pictures come alive and on the giant screen at that and you'll surely forget everything you've read, heard or even seen (on tv) about her supposed added weight.

Because in 'In the Name of Love', Ms. Angel Locsin is all woman. She is at her most beautiful, most sensual and yes, at her most sexiest in form and substance.

Yet what is more striking is the fact the despite her attention-grabbing physical presence, she manages to embellish it with a deeply felt performance that one would come to expect from more seasoned actresses.

For Angel to splash that winning concoction of magnetic star appeal and engaging acting skills every time she appears on the wide screen, and despite having to share most of it with the legendary charismatic star and sensitive actor that is aga muhlach, this feat becomes even more of a cause of wonder that viewers, both male and female, would definitely relish and/or envy (depending on who is watching).

'In the Name of Love' may have done something irrevocable for Angel (and for the rest of her contemporaries). Angel may have unconsciously raised the bar for this generation's young leading ladies. And until that bar is challenged by another young star/actress (and yes, we do encourage other exceptionally talented and beautiful young actress out there, as well as the other producers/directors/writers- do take this as a challenge for the growth of the industry) Angel, whether she likes it or not, now finds herself in a distinct and stellar league all her own.

Artist of Value: Who is Toots Magsino? Woman. Artist. Bi-Polar...and so much more

TOOTS MAGSINO:
BETWEEN EPISODES
June 15-28, 2011

To those who know me well, the exhibition title is self-explanatory. But for many who don’t, let me tell you something about myself. I am bipolar. I’ve struggled with this condition (and its stigma) for over 20 years. Though I have benefited from some of its creative highs, I’ve always paid for them dearly with some of the most debilitating lows. To this day, it remains a constant challenge to accept and make the most of the cards I’ve been dealt.

The arsenal I choose to combat this is ART. I owe a great deal of my sanity and survival to it. The works that are shown here were created in between two major bipolar episodes. Though I do suffer from the condition, it does not define me. For all it’s worth, it has made me learn so much about myself and life as I know it. My experiences are chronicled in the mixed media collages I have created. They are quiet, introspective, personal reflections. My art has evolved into an intimate dialogue between myself and the viewer. It’s like a special communication between two minds who seek to understand the other deeply-- just like best friends who share great interest and empathy for each other.

Though I began as a still life painter, the many years of learning the craft of oil painting and then printmaking still didn’t quite satisfy my artistic voice. I continued to seek other means of expressing everything that was inside me. That’s when I discovered the wonderful world of collage. By combining everything I had learned from the start of my artistic journey, I discovered a visual language that communicated my thoughts and feelings in the most honest way. Each artwork is an autobiographical commentary of life as I know it. My art is life itself as seen through my eyes.

I welcome you intomy world and share with you what it’s like to be inside my head. Though life didn’t really turn out the way I envisioned it, I have learned to accept the good with the bad, to take each day and make the best of it. One thing’s for sure, my life continues to be avery exciting roller coaster ride.

**Toots Magsino is a mixed-media collage artist who has studied, lived and worked in New York City since 1997. She completed two 4-year programs at The Art Students League of New York: Fine Arts Painting and Fine Arts Printmaking. In 2008, she was awarded an O-1B artist visa, granted by the United States government to “individuals with an extraordinary ability in the arts”. She has participated in over 30 group shows in the United States, Italy, Japan, Canada and the Philippines.

“Between Episodes” is her 10th Solo exhibition. It marks a turning point in her career, as she decides to make Manila her home once again.

Creative marketing and promotions for Filipino films - INQUIRER.net, Philippine News for Filipinos

DURING the “Two-Day Film School,” a crash course that focused more on the business and less on the art of filmmaking, conducted by Dov S-S Simens of the Hollywood Film Institute, he repeatedly stressed a point: Aside from the usual excuses given to explain the box-office failure of most movies, one that is generally overlooked is the promotions and marketing aspect of the business.

Observation
The present state of local film industry validates this observation. Director Marilou Diaz-Abaya once said, “The Filipino movie industry is dying because of the dearth in film concepts or ideas.”
The same can be said about the lack of creative and effective campaigns for Filipino films, which oftentimes spell the difference between box-office victory and defeat.
This is a costly oversight for many film producers -- a major misstep that has forced a number of established studios to take an unwanted “sabbatical” from film production -- or to close shop.
While much creative effort goes into pre-production, production and post-production, the same level of creativity and effort is sorely missing come “promo” time.
It’s baffling, to say the least, that the box-office fate of a multimillion-peso product cum investment should be left to a “publicity and promotions scheme” that utilizes clichés: creates “tsismis” (gossip), the more scandalous, the better; and uses the trite “this-film-is-expensive-and-pang-award-thus-you-should-see-it” line, or the tasteless “this-film-is-a-graphic-sex-movie-almost-banned-by-the-censors” slant.

Indie movement
With the indie movement going up in terms of productivity, the brave souls who make digital movies deserve admiration and support for their willingness to invest “life and limb” in pursuit of their creative ideals.
That said, encouragement should come with caution if the end goal is sustainablity of the artistic exercise.
Unlike other commodities in the market, a movie is always a new product, and not one is exactly the same as the other. Therefore, the promotions and marketing campaign should be specifically tailored for each film by highlighting its strengths, “energizing” its weaknesses, and creating interest in the production
