With regards to her Top 11 performance, the American audience has spoken- they weren't as thrilled as the judges were. So was it a mistake that she listened to their suggestions that basically she should be singing faster songs? Of course not. There is merit on that observation.
But its not the genre or the tempo that makes any song performance memorable- its CONNECTION that the singer can create with the audience through the song- but that connection will only be possible IF the singer connects with the song first.

I honestly didnt feel your connection with a song like 'Heatwave' 'coz simply put- its not Thia.
Thia is the "breath of fresh air" in this season's AI contest. She represents the youth, life's potential and promise, she- like millions of young teen-agers- are going through the many wonders of discovery, you feel the vulnerabilities of uncertainty and of insecurity and of change balanced by the optimism if not innocence of an unjaded heart. In short Thia is Glee!
Thia should be singing Thia- all the aspects of being Thia- and be the 'Glee' of the season. She will shine brighter than the rest if she does- or that's my take on the matter at least :)
