On Christmas eve, our resident Star Value Analyst Ramon Bayron tweeted a most reasonable query to film critics worldwide. He wanted to know which film in 2013 should be cited as the "World's Best Film."
No replies came, until Variety headlined the same query.

Star Value Analysis - TRANSIT
#StarValueAnalysis - With Hollywood producer Dean Devlin attached, now more than ever, the Philippines has a clear fighting chance in the Academy's (Oscars) Best Foreign Language Film race.
The Philippines have yet to clinch that much coveted nomination in the Oscars Best Foreign Language Film race. But now that a noted Hollywood producer has stepped in to push for the country's entry "TRANSIT" - a film that deals with the Filipino diaspora & an Israeli policy on migrants, the Philippines has found its strongest ally to date that might finally put the name of this Asian country with the oldest film industry in that hotly contested short list of Oscar Best Foreign Language Film nominees---if not a win.

(One Month Ahead of US/North America Showing) Star Value Analysis Tags GRAVITY as "Super Blockbuster", Beats Hollywood Experts Anew!
August 28, 2013. GRAVITY opens the prestigious Venice Film Festival in Europe. The film, directed by Alfonso Cuaron and starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney, immediately received glowing reviews from critics around the world.
September 2, 2013. "#StarValueAnalysis - Easily a SUPER BLOCKBUSTER" was our early forecast for the film as posted in our Star Value Analysis Facebook Page. No, we haven't seen the film. We were nowhere near Venice at that time. In fact we were at the other end of the globe, in our homebase in Rizal, Philippines.
Weeks passed. Hollywood experts begin releasing their forecasts. None were as enthusistic as ours.
"Opening against Runner Runner could hinder opening weekend potential given the resurgeance of Ben Affleck's career." , states Boxoffice.com in its advance forecast - Boxoffice.com Long Range Forecast for GRAVITY before updating its forecast days before the film's US/North America opening. "Cuarón has been off the grid for quite some time, last helming 2006's acclaimed--but financially disappointing--Children of Men. - October hasn't been known for blockbuster runs--could Gravity change that?"
Boxoffice.com Weekend Forecast for GRAVITY
Finance specialist Forbes would not state a forecast but was hopeful.
Forbes Makes "No Forecast" for GRAVITY
The Examiner.com and Boxofficemojo.com both predicted a low 40M+ weekend bow for the Sandra Bullock-George Clooney starrer.
Examiner.com Box-Office Forecast for GRAVITY
Boxofficemojo.com Box-Office Forecast for GRAVITY
Less generous was Boxofficeguru.com with its $35M opening weekend prediction.
In almost all relevant Hollywood tracking sites, the experts seemed to be united in saying that while the film is a sure Oscar contender, its no "super blockbuster" material, so unlike what our Star Value Analysis predicted.
What is a BLOCKBUSTER? To be clear, we tried to find a number that defines what a true "Hollywood blockbuster" is, and again we sought the experts in Hollywood themselves. In the 1970's a blockbuster is a movie that grossed $100M+ with "Jaws" being the first to achieve the feat. Now, according to Vulture.com, given the spiralling cost of Hollywood films, the new benchmark of a BLOCKBUSTER is now set at $400M domestically (US/North America)
Vulture.com - "$400M is the new benchmark"
Will GRAVITY make $400M in the US/North America alone to be a certified US blockbuster?
Moreover will GRAVITY make $500M-$600M in the US/North America alone to be a certified US "Super Blockbuster" as stated in our early Star Value Analysis?
We will all see as we continue to track the flight of "GRAVITY." And yes, we stand by our analysis.
-----
Update (Oct. 7, 2013) - GRAVITY Sets Record-Breaking October Opening @ $55.6M - CNN.com
Update (Oct. 6, 2013) - Hollywood experts now predict GRAVITY to hit $55M Opening Weekend
Update (Oct.5, 2013) - Variety now sees GRAVITY pulling $50M on its opening weekend.
We put our Hollywood money where our mouth is, so to speak. Thus, at the much-relied upon Hollywood Stock Exchange, we gathered very early on the stocks for GRAVITY and now we're harvesting huge returns.
