Star Value Screenwriting 101 - Pixar's 22 Rules of Storytelling REARRANGED
#1 : WHY MUST You TELL THIS STORY? WHAT'S the BELIEF Burning Within You that Your Story Feeds Off Of? That's the HEART of It.
#2 : 'PUTTING IT ON PAPER' Let's You Start FIXING IT. If It Stays in Your Head, A Perfect Idea, You'll Never Share It With Anyone.
#3 : DISCOUNT the FIRST THING that Comes to Mind. And the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th - Get the OBVIOUS OUT OF THE WAY. SURPRISE Yourself.
#4 : WHAT is the ESSSENCE of Your Story? Most ECONOMICAL WAY of Telling It? If You Know That, You Can Build Up From There.
#5 : You've got to keep in mind WHAT'S INTERESTING to you as an AUDIENCE, NOT what is FUN to you as a WRITER. They can be VERY DIFFERENT.
#6 : WHAT are the STAKES? Give Us Reasons to Root for the Character. What Happens If They Don't Succeed? STACK the ODDS Against Them.

#7 : You Admire a CHARACTER for TRYING More than for Their Success

#7 : You Admire a CHARACTER for TRYING More than for Their Success

#8 : If YOU We're Your CHARACTER, In This SITUATION, How Would You FEEL? Honesty Lends Credibility to Unbelieveable Situations.
#9 : Trying for THEME is IMPORTANT but You Won't See What the Story is About Until You're at the END of It. Now REWRITE.
#10 : 'Once upon a time, there was a __________.
Every day, __________.
One day, __________.
Because of that, ___________.
Because of that, ___________.
Until finally, ___________.'
#5 : SIMPLIFY. FOCUS. COMBINE CHARACTERS. Hop Over Detours. You'll Feel Like You're Losing Valuable Stuff But It Sets You Free.
#6 : What is Your Character GOOD at, COMFORTABLE with? Throw the POLAR OPPOSITE at Them. CHALLENGE Them. HOW do They DEAL?
#7 : GIVE You CHARACTER OPINIONS. Passive/Malleable Might Seem Likeable to You as You Write, But It's POISON to the AUDIENCE.

#8 : COINCIDENCES to Get Character in TROUBLE are GREAT; Coincidence to Get Them OUT of TROUBLE are CHEATING.
#9 : Come Up with Your ENDING Before You Figure Out Your MIDDLE. Seriously. Endings are Hard. Get Yours Working Up Front.

#8 : You Gotta IDENTIFY With Your SITUATION/CHARACTERS, Can't Just 'WRITE COOL.' WHAT Would Make YOU ACT That WAY?
#9 : FINISH Your STORY then LET GO even if it's NOT PERFECT. In an Ideal World You Have Both, But MOVE ON. Do Better Next Time.

#9 : When You're STUCK, Make a List of What WOULDN'T Happen Next. Lots of Times the Material to Get You Unstuck Will Show Up.

#10 : PULL APART the STORIES YOU LIKE. What You Like in Them is a PART OF YOU; You've Got to RECOGNIZE It Before You Can USE It.
#17 : EXERCISE: Take the Building Blocks of a MOVIE You DISLIKE, How Would You Rearrange Them Into What You Do LIKE?
#17 : You Have to KNOW YOURSELF: the Difference Between Doing Your Best and Fussing. Story is Testing, Not Refining.

#17 : No Work Is Ever Wasted. If It's Not Working, Let Go and Move On - It'll Come Back Around to be Useful Later.
You've Got to Recognize, Admire a CHARACTER for TRYING More than for Their Success

#StarValueAnalysis © Thor : Ragnarok Teaser Trailer
UPDATE : "Thor: Ragnarok earned $56.6 million in its second weekend of domestic release, bringing its ten-day domestic total to $211.6m in North America alone. That puts Thor 3 ahead of The Incredible Hulk ($132m), Captain America: The First Avenger ($176m), Ant-man ($180m), Thor ($181m) and Thor: The Dark World ($206m). None of this accounts for inflation, but that may not matter too much in the end." - Forbes

Star Value Analysis © THE GREAT WALL - starring MATT DAMON
Star Value Analysis © - Will 'The Great Wall' Rise as 'Great Blockbuster' or will it Crumble and 'Bomb Great' at the North American Box-Office?
'The Great Wall' is reportedly China's 'most expensive movie' to date and has its eyes squarely on capturing the Hollywood AND global box-office market.
"The Great Wall, a US$135 million fantasy epic directed by Zhang Yimou and starring Matt Damon and Andy Lau Tak-wah, is billed as the most expensive Chinese movie to be distributed globally. But unlike the 20,000km-long fortification that was originally built to defend the country from foreign invasion, this latest co-production (between Hollywood's Legendary Pictures, Universal Pictures and Atlas Entertainment; and Chinese enterprises China Films and Le Vision Pictures) is all about reaching out - and, hopefully, conquering - the international film market." - South China Morning Post

Hollywood Value Condemns as Criminal the Acts of Bernardo Bertolluci and Marlon Brando re Non-Consensual Rape Scene in 'Last Tango in Paris'
Star Value Analysis © Hollywood Value most strongly condemns the criminal connivance between director Bernardo Bertolluci and actor Marlon Brando and the resulting criminal shoot and criminal execution of the criminal, non-consensual rape scene in the film 'Last Tango in Paris' that victimized and scarred for life the then 19-yr old actress Maria Schneider. Likewise, Hollywood Value strongly believes that Alberto Grimaldi, the film's producer, also cannot and should not escape culpability and liability.
These criminal acts cannot and should not be excused in the name of "film art" or "artistic expression."
Bertolluci Clarifies 'Ridiculous Misunderstanding' re 'Last Tango in Paris' Non-Consensual Rape Scene Execution
“I would like, for the last time, to clear up a ridiculous misunderstanding that continues to generate press reports about ‘Last Tango in Paris’ around the world... I specified, but perhaps I was not clear, that I decided with Marlon Brando not to inform Maria that we would have used butter. We wanted her spontaneous reaction to that improper use [of the butter]. That is where the misunderstanding lies. Somebody thought, and thinks, that Maria had not been informed about the violence on her. That is false!” - Bernardo Bertolucci via Variety

"That scene wasn't in the original script. The truth is it was Marlon who came up with the idea...They only told me about it before we had to film the scene and I was so angry. I should have called my agent or had my lawyer come to the set because you can't force someone to do something that isn't in the script, but at the time, I didn't know that.
Marlon said to me: 'Maria, don't worry, it's just a movie,' but during the scene, even though what Marlon was doing wasn't real, I was crying real tears.I felt humiliated and to be honest, I felt a little raped, both by Marlon and by Bertolucci." Maria Schneider on Daily Mail UK 2007 interview

Star Value Analysis © Donald Trumps Hollywood
On Hollywood Left's Vile Opposition to President Donald Trump
"They don't have a choice now. He's our president... It's very dynamic and as divisive of an inauguration in time that we've ever had, at the same time it's time for us to embrace, shake hands with this guy and be constructive with him over the next four years... Even those who most strongly may disagree with his principles or things he's said and done, which is another thing, we'll see what he does compared to what he had said. No matter how much you even disagreed along the way, it's time to think how constructive can you be 'cause he's our president for the next four years, at least. President of the United States." - Matthew McConaugheyThursday, November 17, 2016
